Announcement! I have an idea…

I want to move Oregon’s Primary Election Date to earlier in the year! Why? Because currently, we are one of the last states to hold our primary election and by the time we do vote, most primary candidates have already dropped out, effectively leaving us with no voice in determining who our parties presidential candidates are. I want to Make Oregon Matter in the national primary process!

How did this idea even come about? Well, in between my bouts of extreme depression and apathy regarding our political landscape, I get intense urges to get out and actually do something! For years, I’ve wondered about Oregon’s place in the primary timeline and felt that my vote doesn’t matter. In 2024, Oregon Republican voters for example, only had one candidate to vote for by the time our primary election happened, and to me it just doesn’t seem fair. Why do other states get to have more of say in our presidential nominees?

So, I thought about Oregon’s ballot initiative process. And, while this definitely seems like an uphill battle, I am convinced that most Oregon voters will think this is a bi-partisan no-brainer.

What do I need to do? Collect a minimum of 117,173 valid signatures to get on the ballot. With an approximate 77% validity rate, I realistically need to collect about 150,000 signatures.

Stay tuned for my next update!
